People recognized Sizwe Maphumulo as Black Coffee and Zakhele Madida as Zakes Bantwini as best friends who collaborated on music before abruptly falling out of favor.

Not only does it speak to the black South African experience, but it is also a glaring reminder of the virtues of hard work and overcoming hardships.

We now know Black Coffee as an internationally renowned musician and the highest paid DJ on the African continent.

While Zakes Batwini, with his charisma, style and revolutionary sound, as forever changed the South African musical landscape.

But what we rarely see, is where our favourite artists were in their lives before they made it.

On the Facebook page SA House Music Downloads, a picture of Black Coffee and Zakes Bantwini from a long time ago was posted. They were with another person who hasn’t yet been located.

It was obvious from what was happening around them that things did not look good for the two. Black Coffee and the third person shared the bed with Zakes, who slept on the floor.

Previously, they were buddies, but they are no longer.
