President Cyril Ramaphosa pens a heartfelt post to DJ Black Coffee. DJ Black Coffee is making headlines after going down in the history books as the first South African DJ and producer to perform at New Yorks famed Madison Square Garden over the weekend.

The Grammy award-winner headlined the sold-out Madison Square Garden with more than 20 000 people in attendance.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter President Cyril Ramaphosa posted: “Congratulations to Black Coffee for being the first South African DJ to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City, USA to a sold-out show this past Saturday.”

“South African artists continue to distinguish themselves and promoting our talents on the global stage. We thank you for flying the National Flag!”

DJ Black Coffee also received a congratulatory letter from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture. Minister Zizi Kodwa congratulated the DJ for his massive contribution to the music industry and his latest accomplishment at Madison Square Gardens in New York City.

“Black Coffee headlining at Madison Square Gardens is historic and shows the endless possibilities of South African musicians. We commit ourselves to open the global audience to our artists,” said Minister Kodwa.
