Kelly Khumalo’s lawyer pulls out of Meyiwa murder case

On Wednesday morning, Lumka Mahanjana, the Gauteng regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA, confirmed to Media that Moonsamy had filed notice to withdraw from the case.

Last year, Moonsamy stated she had been appointed by Khumalo, who wanted to closely follow the court proceedings.

She explained her role was to ensure a full understanding and direct interaction with the proceedings.

First state witness

Meanwhile, Khumalo’s young sister, Zandile Khumalo is the first state witness in the murder trial. She has broken down in tears while testifying in the High Court in Pretoria. Khumalo on Wednesday. She became emotional while explaining how she felt Meyiwa’s temperature drop as they arrived at hospital.

Advocate George Baloyi asked for a short adjournment when Khumalo started crying.

Meyiwa was killed on October 26, 2014, while visiting Khumalo, his girlfriend and the mother of his child, in Vosloorus in Gauteng.

Five men – Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Mthobisi Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Sifokuhle Ntuli – have been arrested and face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in connection with Meyiwa’s murder.
