Jada Pinkett Smith claimed Chris Rock once asked her out on a date when divorce rumors about her and husband Will Smith were swirling.

The 52-year-old actress has been busy dropping bombshells during her promotional tour for her upcoming memoir Worthy

In an interview with The Today Show, the actress revealed she and her husband Will Smith have been living separate lives since 2016.

“I think by the time we got to 2016, we were exhausted with trying … we both kind of still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” she said.

But is the couple divorced, legally?

People magazine reports she thought the slap was “a skit” at first.

“I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him’. It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I realised it wasn’t a skit,” she was quoted by the magazine as saying.

The 52-year-old actress said she had not spoken to the comedian since the incident but revealed that Rock had asked her out while rumours of divorce were swirling on American blogs. This was all before the Oscars slap.

“So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out’. And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No, Chris, those are just rumours.’”

The Hollywood heavyweight said the comedian apologised “and that was that”.
