Former soccer player Maimane Phiri is linked to a meat truck heist. Ex-Bafana Bafana star Maimane Phiri takes part in the 2016 Maimane Alfred Phiri Games at Alexandra Stadium.

Alfred Maimane Phiri (born 22 June 1974 in Alexandra) is a South African Association football midfielder who last played for Moroka Swallows.

He spent six seasons in Turkey playing mostly for Gençlerbirliği (Turkey), but also for Vanspor and Samsunspor.[ In South Africa, he started his career at Alexandra United and also played for Jomo Cosmos, Ajax Cape Town, Moroka Swallows and Supersport United.

MAIMANE PHIRI’S BUTCHERY IMPLICATED IN STOLEN MEAT SCANDAL

According to the publication, Maimane Phiri has reportedly denied having known that the meat founded in his fridge was stolen. In a joint statement, a local ZSS tactical security company, together with SAPS and JMPD, revealed that they had been dispatched to 7th Joe Nhlanhla Avenue in a tavern in Alexandra. Upon arrival, they reportedly witnessed suspects busy offloading meat and arrested two suspects at the scene.

The former Bafana Bafana player has reportedly admitted to storing the meat in his fridges, however, claims he was not aware that the meat was stolen. Xolani Fihla, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Superintendent is said to have confirmed that a shocking R700 000 worth of meat was found at the said location
