Tendai Ndoro’s last appearance on video before his death.
The football fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the death of former Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town striker Tendai Ndoro at the age of 40.
Ndoro had a long battle with diabetes, which ultimately cut short his football career. It is said that Ndoro was found dead at his apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Monday.
The former Zimbabwean international had recently been hospitalised in Durban due to a tumour under his armpit. His death is a significant loss to the football communities of both South Africa and Zimbabwe. His demise comes as a major blow to both South African and Zimbabwean football circles.
Health battles in later years
After hanging up his boots, Ndoro’s health became a major concern. In recent years, he suffered serious complications, including reported temporary blindness and a sharp decline in his physical condition, which worried the football community. Despite undergoing treatment and even speaking positively about recovery following surgery earlier this year, Ndoro’s battle sadly came to an end.
Remembering Fire
Tributes have already begun pouring in from former teammates, clubs, and fans who remember Ndoro not only for his goals but also for the passion and flair he brought to the game.
