Boy Goes Missing at Stadium During Mamelodi Sundowns vs Orlando Pirates Match.

A frantic search is underway after a young boy was reported missing during the highly anticipated clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

According to eyewitnesses, the child was last seen in the stands before halftime at the stadium on Saturday evening. It is believed he was attending the match with family members when he went missing.

The disappearance of 16-year-old Mpendulo Mashiane, who went missing in Pretoria after his friends took him—without his mother’s permission—to watch the Mamelodi Sundowns vs Orlando Pirates game at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville. (See our previous post for details.)

The mother, Thembi Mantwa Shakoane (44), originally from Marite Mandiyane and now living in Nelspruit, allegedly attacked the family of Thapelo, the boy she believes took her son to Pretoria despite her warnings.

According to reports, Thembi stabbed Thapelo (17) multiple times in the chest with a screwdriver, killing him on the spot. She also attacked Thapelo’s mother, leaving her seriously injured. The woman is currently hospitalized.

Police confirm that Thembi attempted to burn the family’s house, but was stopped when community members intervened.

Sergeant J.J. Ndlamini stated:

“We found the boy dead near the dining room and his mother bleeding on the couch. A case of murder, attempted murder, and assault has been opened. Our main focus remains finding the missing boy, Mpendulo. We are working with Atteridgeville police to locate him.”

Thembi fled before police arrived and is currently on the run. Authorities have launched a manhunt.

It has also emerged that Thembi has a violent history—she previously stabbed two women allegedly involved with her child’s father nine years ago. One died and the other was left paralyzed. She reportedly served only one month in jail.
