ITU KHUNE AND WIFE CRITICISED OVER ORLANDO PIRATES SUPPORT
In an Instagram post, Itu Khune and his wife Sphelele posted pics of their experience watching Orlando Pirates live in action.
The couple – who wore black, seemingly in support of Pirates – were spectators at the Soweto Stadium.
In the comments section of his post, Khune – who has shares in a sports betting agency – was questioned by confused Kaizer Chiefs fans over his allegiance. The former Amakhosi goalkeeper’s wife also teased her followers on her own Instagram account.
“You can tell which team I was supporting,” she captioned a selection of pics from the match.
Responding to comments, Khune assured his followers that he was “Amakhosi 4 Life”. His wife – who said he was a “KC Girl” – conceded about the opposition: “They play good football.”
LONGSTANDING SERVICE
Last year, Itu Khune unofficially hung up his boots from his post as Kaizer Chiefs after 20 long years.
The veteran player and former captain joined the club in 2004 as a fresh-faced star.
The 37-year-old is believed to have quietly retired from the PSL club after his contract for the 2024/2025 season was not renewed.
A month earlier, the club honoured the soccer star for his total of 25 years of service, including his time at the youth academy.
